those pink shoes are not the problem

I'll be honest, I don't think this should be an issue. I get why it is, I just don't agree. Nicklas Bendtner is wearing pink shoes, so what? This isn't a big deal. It doesn't reflect on the club in anyway and in fact, he was probably given a lot of money to wear them. And, hell, it takes a lot of balls to step onto a pitch wearing pink shoes (you can see a picture of them here.

And, of course, the media reacted just as expected. Focus on the shoes as a symbol for Arsenal's decline. Well, I'm sorry but no. Just because Nicklas Bendtner isn't living up to the hype (his hype, Wenger's hype, whatever), he's still just a kid. A kid. The whole team is and the one person who speaks out (regardless of his motivations) isn't a child, but apparently acts like one. Not only Gallas, but other players have acted childish as well. Which hey, this is something that professionally athletes do. And sometimes they're called out, but it's never such a big deal as when it's an Arsenal player.

Why? Because Arsenal's a young team. Their manager makes sure we know just how good the kids are. But we all forget something, just because they're talented kids, doesn't mean that they're actually adults. Because, wait for it, they're not. So instead of focusing on Bendtner's shoes as the issue, perhaps the media could focus on the real problems. The fact that the 'captain' of the team choose to speak out publicly against the rest of his team, the fact that there's so much inter-office drama that players of opposing teams find it impossible to keep their mouths shut and opinions to themselves. All is not well for Arsenal, but it's not because Bendtner's wearing pink shoes.
